Top/Bottom 100 Lists - Rationale and Conditions

The legacy Top/Bottom 100 methodology page explained that extreme values can be useful screening tools but can also reflect limited practical relevance or underlying data anomalies. V2 keeps that same caution by exposing the methodology as a first-class route alongside the rebuilt ranking and top-list pages.

Key points

  • Top/Bottom lists are a screening aid, not a recommendation engine.
  • Extreme percentage values can overstate small underlying dollar changes.
  • The same screens also help surface data-quality exceptions for review.
